The All Progressives Congress (APC) is the ruling party in Edo State but not certainly the best or strongest party in the state.
This was the view of a frontline political leader in the state, Owere Dickson Imasogie of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Imasogie, a political tactician insisted that despite the fact that the APC is the ruling party in the state, “Edo State is PDP State and nothing can change that”.
He said whereas the APC is politically getting weaker, the PDP is getting stronger every passing day which is the reason why the party (PDP) is the people choice “any day, any time”.
According to the political leader, “it is very clear to everybody even the blind that the APC although in government at the federal and state levels is not on ground.
“The APC members are always fighting themselves both secretly and openly whereas the PDP is rebuilding its broken walls, also in the secret and in the open.
“If you call for any election today especially in Edo State, the PDP will beat the APC hands down because the party belongs to the people whereas the APC belong to the oppressors who derive pleasure in oppressing and suffering the people.
“Mark my words, the PDP will surprise the APC in the forthcoming local government election in the state; that’s if the government will have the courage to conduct the long over due election.
“Oshiomhole refused to conduct the L.G.A. election because he was afraid of the PDP and now his boy and governor of the state, Mr. Godwin Obaseki is also afraid of the PDP and that is why he has refused to conduct the election.
“But we are waiting for them in the field. If the election is held today or tomorrow, the PDP will beat the APC. So, there is no need to keep postponing the evil days because PDP will surely disgrace the APC come rain or sunshine.
“Truly speaking, the APC is in disarray. There are over four or five factions in the APC. So, how can such a scattered party defeat the PDP? it is impossible.
“My only advice to the government in power is for them not to rig any election in the country especially in Edo State because if they try to rig the election, the outcome will be very bad.
“The hardship is too much on the land and the people are very angry. The people are ready to change or vote out the APC government. That is the true political situation in the country now. The people want to return back to PDP to continue to enjoy democracy dividends.
“Which magic will the APC use to win any election in the country with all the mess they have created throughout the country? Instead, the party will keep committing havoc and scandal which can never be cleaned or erased. The next election will be PDP all the way,” Owere Imasogie added.
