A social cultural and non political organization, Ikolo Esan has said that the apex governing tripod in a state is governor, deputy governor and speaker which are usually zoned to each of the three Senatorial Districts.
The group however lamented that this was never to be in Edo State as Governor Godwin Obaseki comes from Edo South, deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu and the speaker, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Adjoto both came from Edo North Senatorial District while Edo Central is left with nothing.
Chairman of the organization Prof. Gabriel Oteze regretted this arrangement in a chat with newsmen in Benin City, recently.
The organization said under this political dispensation, the Esan people have again lost out, adding that an Esan man was supposed to occupy that speakership position as equity demands that the people deserve it no matter the politics.
The organization however commended the traditional rulers from Edo North who spoke against the emergence of the present speaker from the zone on the ground that, it was not equitable.
On the Killer Fulani Herdsmen, the organization said it is a pity that for a long time the government seems to close its eyes on the activity of the so call Fulani herdsmen.
He said President Mohammadu Buhari alerted the world that the killer herdsmen are not Nigerians but rather invaders that were trained by Muammar Gadaffi who has a catch of armory before the man died, adding that due to the activity of the herdsmen, farmers in Edo and Delta states now live in fear due to the killer herdsmen.
He calls on the security forces to flush them out from the high ways and forests so that farmers could return to their farms without fear of being killed.
