The people of Iyanomo village, Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, have again appealed to Oba Ewuare II to save them from their neighbour, the people of Oye village.
They made the appeal last week, while alleging continued attack, harassment, and annex of their land by Oye natives.
Iyanomo people led by the Odionwere (Traditional Village Head), Pa. Omoregieva Sunday Agho after an enlarged meeting, told journalists that Oba Ewuare II had earlier resolved in their favour the contentious issues between them.
“On June 5, 2018, the Benin Monarch, Oba Ewuare II made pronouncement in our favour on the disagreement between Enogie of Oye and the people of Iyanomo.
“Oba Ewuare II said that Iyanomo village is not under the authority and administration of Oye and that we should go co – exist in peace.”
“Right now, he has annexed our land, and hunts us when we go to farm. We now sleep with one eye closed for fear of attack by the people, hence the appeal to the Monarch to come to our aid.”
According to Michael Evbareke Osayande, the appeal to the Monarch becomes necessary, as the onslaught against them by the Enogie and his people is endless.
He alleged that the only entrance to Iyanomo village was barricaded by the Enogie which forced them to make an alternative road to avoid violent clash.
Speaking in the same vein, Ernest Airevba and Collins Osayande said the people of Iyanomo are peace loving and would not want to do anything that would breach the peace.
Efforts to contact the Enogie of Oye for his reaction was unsuccessful as at the time of filing this story. He is indisposed, a reliable source said.
