OBASEKI’S AIDE TAKES WSR AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING ADVOCACY TO CHURCH

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Godwin Obaseki on Anti Human Trafficking Issues, Comrade Solomon Okoduwa has again harped on the need for citizens of the state to shun all activities related to human trafficking and irregular migration.
Comrade Okoduwa stated this recently at the Omega Fire Ministries, Benin 1 during an advocacy programme against the menace of human trafficking.
While explaining the dangers of human trafficking and irregular migration, the SSA advised the congregation to beware of the antics of human traffickers regardless of their relationship.
The governor’s aide recalled cases of how some pastors and relatives lure their victims into human trafficking on the guise of their relationship.
He said, “Mothers and guardians could also encourage you to embark on the perilous journey. Illegal migration is bad, human trafficking is evil. Let us say no to it. The governor has said capital NO. The Oba has rejected it. Men of God are speaking against it, tell me who is for it?”
Comrade Okoduwa noted that the Edo State Government Task Force Against Human Trafficking and Irregular Migration law recently assented to by Governor Obaseki is very effective, adding that “the law has no option of fine for offenders.
“The Governor is committed and passionate to the good people of Edo State and this has been demonstrated in the rehabilitation and support of victims of human trafficking and the returnees. Since November 7th 2017 till date, the Governor has not changed his words. He is prompt in the payment of stipends to ameliorate the plight of the Libya returnees.
“The governor is doing all he can to ensure Edo people have the best life, attracting investors to the state to create jobs for our Youths,” he added
On his part the Senior Pastor of Omega Fire Ministries, Benin 1, Pastor Azemhe Azena who has also been passionate in the war against human trafficking and Irregular Migration commended the state government for its bold steps taken so far against the menace.
But Pastor Azemhe Azena in his homily was also tough against the activities of human trafficking and related crimes.
“If only some parents knew what their daughters are going to do abroad, if they knew how they’re exploited by ‘Madam’, they will never allow them to travel.
“The Governor is not joking at all when it comes to the issue of human trafficking, don’t get yourself involved in it at all and if you are caught, don’t bother to call me because I will not be available.” Pastor Azemhe Azena warned.
Also, the Executive Director of Name Foundation, Mr. Nosa Erhunmwunsee who was also at the advocacy programme praised government’s effort so far and asked Edo people to resist any attempt to travel to Europe through the Sahara desert and the Mediterranean Sea, saying, “Those that have died this year trying to cross the sea according to IOM are more than 1000 and many are still in captivity in Libya.”
