Man Who Shot Dead His Wife, 2 Sons In Benin City, Says He Didn’t Know What Came Over Him

 

A 35 year-old man, Mr. Uwaila Idehen who shot and killed his wife and two sons at Ovbiogie community in Ovia North Local Government Area of Edo state, has claimed that he didn’t know what made him to commit murder.

Uwaila, a tipper driver was said to have been having a running battle with his wife over alleged infidelity and inability to properly meet the financial needs of the family.

On that fateful Sunday (January 13, 2019), the suspected murderer had a bitter quarrel with his late wife which allegedly led to the threat of infidelity from the woman.

Uwaila was said to have at a point drove out of the house in anger, only to return few minutes later to discover that his wife had locked up herself with their three children in one the rooms.

Perhaps, under the influence of an evil spirit and because of his uncontrollable rage to deal with his wife, fired his double barreled English made gun through the door which eventually hit his wife and two sons.

It was gathered that the late woman had took their children into the room to prevent beating from her husband, but unfortunately ended been killed while playing with their three children on top of her bed.

However, while mother and two sons were killed by the gun shot, their little daughter was lucky to have escaped unhurt.

But speaking to newsmen at the headquarter of Edo State Police Command where he was paraded, the suspected murderer who broke down in tears stated that he had loved his wife and children but did not know what pushed him to kill them with a gun which he claimed he bought from a policemen in Benin City.

A neighbor of the suspect, who would not want his name in print, told The Reliance that Mr. Uwaila had been making preparations to organize a birthday party for one of the murdered sons whose ages were put at between two years and four years before the tragic incident occurred.

Nevertheless, the state commissioner of police, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu said the suspected murderer would soon be arraigned in count after a postmortem examination has been conducted on the deceased.
