The gale of defections currently decimating the ruling APC, characterized PDP ward to ward campaign in Esan West LGA, as hordes of APC supporters, accompanied by their leaders were ushered into the PDP from Ward 1- Ogwa, Ujiogba – Ward 2, Egoh Naka – Ward 3 and Ward 10 at Illeh.
Leading decampees to the PDP, Mr. Sunday Ikhuoria said the APC has been highjacked by some monopolistic greedy party leaders, he acknowledged that this reoccurring impunity prompted them to join the rescue team of the PDP.
Arriving Ujiogba in ward 2, the PDP entourage made a brief stop over at the palace of the Onojie of Ujiogba, HRH King Solomon Ojeaga Izuware 1, he advised his subjects not to be double minded concerning who to support. He told the PDP candidates that their performance in office will speak for them and assured them a peaceful in Ujiogba.
Apparently disappointed over the current state of the nation, Mr. Joseph Inegbeneki equally left the APC with hundreds of his supporters in Ward 3 in Egoh Naka to the PDP. Furthermore, the EDHA PDP Candidate for Esan West constituency, Arc Clifford Inegbedion, charged the people to overwhelmingly cast their votes for Atiku Abubakar, Senator Engr Clifford Akhimienmona Ordia, Hon. Edionwele and himself come February 16 and March 2nd general elections.
As the campaign train touched down at Ward 8 in Urohi, the first point of call was the visit to palace of the Onojie of Urohi, HRH D. A. Addressing them he said, the current PDP candidates are “Blessings” to the Urohi kingdom. “By the grace of God, I will inform my people to work with “Blessings”. We will work together to build a better Urohi”, he emphasized.
Receiving the PDP entourage at Ward 9 in Uhiele, a foremost leader of the locality, Mr. Augustine Akhidenor assured the train that the ward has never disappointed the party, “this has always been the home of PDP in Esan West LGA. “We are ready, “No shaking”, he added.
At Illeh, the hometown of the APC candidate for House of representatives, Mr. Patrick Idiake, Hon Joe Edionwele’s rival, scores of APC leaders and supporters dumped their party for the PDP as the mammoth crowd at the venue was indeed unprecedented.
The leader of the decampees at Illeh, Mr. Albert Asuelimen, a former secretary of the party said that they left the APC because of their poor performance. Stating that the Federal Medical Centre presently under construction and facilitated by Hon. Joe Edionwele captured their hearts compared to the APC which doesn’t have a single project at Illeh. “APC signifies darkness, so we decided to come to light. PDP will cure Nigeria from the current illness inflicted by the APC”, he hinted.
