APC Scientifically Rigged Presidential/NASS Elections – Imasogie

As reactions continue to trail the conduct of the just concluded presidential and national assembly elections in the country, a highly respected leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo state, Owere Dickson Imasogie, has decried the excessive manipulation and acquisition of fraudulent votes by the All Progressives Congress (APC)
Owere Imasogie who exrayed the election while exchanging views with newsmen in Benin City, disclosed that the manipulations and fraudulent acquisition of votes by the APC cut across several states in the country in general and particularly in his immediate community of Uhunmwonde local government area of Edo State.
The PDP chieftain who carpeted some of the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for caving in for the APC to carry out their nefarious rigging and violation of the electoral process, challenged the leadership of the electoral body to live up to its mandatory constitutional responsibility and neutrality in the conduct of the March 9,2019 governorship and houses of assembly elections.
“INEC, if it is really serious with its responsibility, can still prove their neutrality and credibility in the governorship and House of Assembly elections. Nigerians and the international community are watching,” he added.
Owere Imasogie equally condemned the political thuggery orchestrated by the ruling APC, noting “an absurd development which all Nigerians witnessed on the day of the presidential and national assembly elections especially in the south west and south-south states.”
The political tactician insisted that President Buhari’s pre-election warning that tough times awaited ballot-box snatchers, “was merely a smokescreen cover for the APC to perpetrate their ignoble acts while the security forces, who the president threatened would deal ruthlessly with ballot-box snatchers, maintained a tacit acquiescence and watched from the distance.
‘We have never witnessed such brazen display of thuggery and destruction of voting materials as exhibited by APC-sponsored hoodlums in our elections,” he posited.
Owere Dickson Imasogie, however saluted the courage displayed by the people of Edo State, who did not submit to such brazen intimidation but stood their grounds and insisted their votes must count.
According to him: “Like I have always said, Edo is a PDP state. We are happy that inspite of the election rigging antics fomented by the APC, we still delivered Edo state for our party and presidential candidate. Today, across the state, the PDP still secured two of the three senatorial seats and four of the nine House of Representatives seats.
“So, If you asked me, I would say that is a huge success, especially considering the fact that we are in opposition both at the state and federal levels. I urge all our members and supporters across the length and breadth of Edo State to remain resolute, even as we prepare for the House of Assembly Elections on Saturday March 9, 2019, to come out in their numbers to vote for the PDP candidates across the state.”
On the developments at the national level where the PDP leadership and the presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar have rejected the presidential poll results as declared by INEC, Owere Imasogie remarked that “It is not only the PDP that has rejected the results declared by INEC. All well-meaning and patriotic Nigerians who truly mean well for the country, have in their majority, rejected the results declared by INEC.
” It is obvious that there were falsification of results and immoral manipulation and allocation of votes to the APC, especially in several states in the north where voting was hampered by the prevailing security challenges.
“See the votes INEC declared in Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, Nasarawa and several other states in the north, all in favour of the APC presidential candidate. See the militarization of the PDP strongholds in states like Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa-Ibom and Cross Rivers, which were clearly targeted at reducing the number of PDP votes.
‘To me, these are atrocious irregularities committed by the APC with the clandestine connivance of INEC. The declared presidential results are fraught with so much scientific manipulations and dubious allocation of illegal votes. It cannot stand, and it should not stand.”
Owere Imasogie further aligned himself with the PDP decision to challenge the results in court, noting that those who are trying to discourage the party from rejecting the muddled-up results and congratulating the APC candidate, were not being sincere with themselves.
He pointed out that under the Nigerian constitution, any aggrieved citizen should be allowed to ventilate his anger and displeasure with prevailing situations by seeking legal means to redress the adduced wrongs done him.
“When then General Muhammadu Buhari lost elections on three separate occasions in the past, even when it was obvious that he lost miserably, did anyone stop him from going to the courts to seek redress?” Owere Imasogie asked rhetorically.
