LUCKY IMASUEN: Another APC Guber Aspirant Pulled Down

Two weeks after slamming a governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Charles Arhiavnere, with a suspension from the party by members of his ward, another aspirant in next year’s gubernatorial election in the state, Mr. Lucky Imasuen has been shown a red card.
Thus the dream of the former Deputy Governor of the State, Mr. Lucky Imasuen to contest the 2020 gubernatorial primaries on the platform of APC has suffered a setback as he has been disowned by members of his ‘ ward’.
Imasuen who lives in Uselu area of Benin City had always claimed to belong to Ward 4 in Egor local government area (LGA) for decades but recently he started claiming membership of Uhen ward in Ovia LGA.
But Members of the All Progressives Congress in the ward have disowned him and distanced themselves from insinuations to that effect.
Rising from an enlarged leaders/ ward executives meeting held on Tuesday, the APC leaders and members unanimously declared Mr. Lucky Imasuen as a non-member of the party in the ward.
In a communiqué, party leaders said by virtue of Article Nine of the APC constitution as amended, application for membership shall be made to and cleared by the executives of the party in the ward of the local government area where the person was born, resides, work or originates.
They said Mr. Lucky Imasuen has not met any of these requirements.
The ward leaders of APC in Uhen therefore warned Mr. Imasuen to remain in Egor Local Government Area where he is known to be playing politics.
The communiqué was reportedly signed by the ward chairman, Igbinosa Michael, Imuse Isaac, Ward Secretary, P.E. Ediagbonya, Local Government Leader, Bright Osayande, member, Edo State House of Assembly, John Ediae, Henry Enabulele and Osasuyi Kayode.
Other signatories to the communiqué are Destiny Oboh, Ogbewe O.C., Idahor Efe, Ebose Terry, Enoma Ayo, Igunma Joseph, Samson Osadolor and Barrister Kelvin Aigbe.
Investigation revealed that the former deputy governor who was a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) until about three years ago, has been nursing gubernatorial ambition in the state.
It was learnt that he decided to move his political tenth to Uhen ward to escape the stout resistance to his 2020 governorship dream from some powerful APC leaders in Egor.
Which way forward, Mr. Lucky Imasuen?
