A chieftain and former governorship aspirant in the 2016 Edo gubernatorial election under the Platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Maj-Gen. Charles Arhiavbere (rtd), has vowed to continue to pursue his governorship ambition until he gets to power.
The retired Army General insisting that no amount of intimidation from within the APC and its Leaders would deter or distract him from contesting the gubernatorial election in the state next year.
Arhiavbere was two weeks ago, controversially suspended from the APC by some leaders and members of his ward in Oredo.
Airhiavbere who had also contested the State governorship election as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against former governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole in 2012, said he remains a committed and loyal member of the APC despite his purported suspension by the Oredo Ward 1 leaders of the party.
Airhiavbere told Journalists, weekend in Benin City, during his investiture as grandpatron of the Benin Recreation Club (BRC) ,in Benin City, Edo State, said he was fully prepared for the third time to run for the next governorship election in the state.
He disclosed that the grand plot by a group of persons and leaders in the APC , who see him as a threat to other aspirants for 2020 Edo governorship election, would not make him shy away from contesting the governorship position.
The APC chieftain who expressed Optimism to emerge in the party primaries, said he is undaunted in his governorship ambition and interest to govern his people in the state.
He added that many people from within the All Progressives Congress have inundated him with calls to contest for the Edo South Senatorial seat, but said he was not interested saying that running for the Senate position will take him away from his people, home and soil.
“I will continue to run for governor of Edo State, until I get to Government House. No amount of intimidation will make me shy way from contesting the governorship election for 2020. Many friends and the APC have asked me to go for Senate position, but I think that will take me far away from my soil.” Airhiavbere said.
The Governorship hopeful however vowed to continue to push for support in his interest to run for the State governorship election come 2020 until he gets what he wanted.
