OmoN’ObaN’Edo, UkuAkpolokpolo, Oba Ewuarell, has called on members of the fourth estate to imbibe the culture of fairness, balance and objectivity in their reportage of event as professionals in order to stabilise the nation.
The monarch who spoke on Thursday through Chief Eribo during a media parley in the Oba’s Palace, said the press has the capability to enhance a peaceful society if only they can uphold sincerity in the discharge of their duties.
Responding, chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, Sir Roland Osakue appreciated the reverred monarch over the fatherly love bestowed on every journalist.
He reaffirmed what the monarch said: “Be free to always confirm stories before reporting in order to avoid litigation”, he said.
However, journalists who were in their number, were treated to a mouth watery reception amidst entertaining music background music.
