Edo 2020: Ize-Iyamu Not A Threat To Obaseki – Comrade Oregbe

Ahead of next year’s gubernatorial election in Edo State and the consequential movement of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a Benin based unionist and member of the APC, Comrade Oregbe Omorodion, has posited that the incumbent governor of the state, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has nothing to fear with the presence of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu in APC.
“Some people are already saying that Pastor Ize-Iyamu was brought to the party (APC) by the national chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to wrest power from Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki.
“But I disagree with them because Pastor Ize-Iyamu does not have what it takes to be a political threat to Governor Obaseki. Indeed, it is to the advantage of the APC for the governor to remain in office because any attempt to remove him will bring an end to the party in Edo State.
“Ize-Iyamu will never be a threat because he does not possess what it takes to overrun our amiable governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, who is performing beyond the peoples expectation.
“If Oshiomhole could not make Ize-Iyamu governor, from 2006 when his political pressure group called Grace Group to 2016, what hope now does he have to make him governor even now that he is a visitor to the APC because he is jumping from party to party.
“Edo people have not forgotten what happened during the 2016 governorship election and 2019 general elections where the duo of Oshiomhole and Ize-Iyamu openly ran themselves down and said several unprintable things against themselves, and seriously exposed themselves in the process.
“Edo people are very wise and there is nothing Oshiomhole or Ize-Iyamu can do to erase the damage which they have done to themselves.
“It is very unfortunate for Ize-Iyamu to leave PDP for APC at this point in time. He is in for a rude surprise. He should have remained in PDP but now he has messed up himself politically and he will have to regret his political miscalculation.
“As things are now coupled with the excellent performance of Governor Obaseki, there is no way Pastor Ize-Iyamu can get APC nomination not to talk of being voted for by the vigilant people of Edo State.
“Ize-iyamu should not rely on promises giving him by some expired politicians because such promises are fake. It is a pity that Ize-Iyamu is relying on fake hope being giving him by people or politicians who cannot make things happen,” Comrade Oregbe added.
