Wife of the Onojie of Ewatto in Esan South East Local government area of Edo State, Queen Florence Ikhumhen and her daughter have been kidnapped by unknown gun men in Benin city, Edo state.
The gun men who were said to have come through Ikpoba River on Sunday, stormed the Benin City residence of the traditional ruler on Jemila road in Ikpoba Hill.
The woman who just retired as the principal of Itohan Girls Grammar school in Benin City was whisked to an unknown destination with her daughter in a violent manner.
The gun men who stormed the house at mid night fired several gun shots sporadically, before they found their way into the bedroom where she was abducted and taken on a standby speed boat at the ikpoba river.
The kidnappers have said to have made a ransom contact with the family but sources revealed that, the ransom request is on the high side as it ran into several millions of naira.
The police public relations officer of the Edo State Police command, DSP Chris Nwanbueze, confirmed the incident, noting that Investigation was ongoing.
