As Edo State governorship election draws very close, the 14 political parties and their candidates, particularly those of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC), have intensified efforts in their electioneering campaigns aimed at convincing eligible Edo State voters.
Obviously, the guber election to be conducted on September 10, is between the candidates of the PDP, Governor Godwin Obaseki and his opponent in the APC, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
Currently, both men, their party leaders and supporters are busy transversing the length and breadth of the state, soliciting for votes from residents of the state.
Investigation has revealed that non of the two frontline guber candidates will win the election by landslide victory. Expectedly, the victory margin will be very slim.
Perhaps the reason why the campaign activities of Governor Obaseki and Pastor Ize-Iyamu are very intense, hence the frequent physical and verbal attacks among their supporters.
But our survey indicated that Governor Obaseki and his party, PDP are poised to winning in 10 local government areas, while the remaining eight local government areas will go to Pastor Ize-Iyamu and his political party, APC.
Below is the outcome of the painstakingly survey carried out by our Correspondents and Reporters:
(Edo North)
Akoko-Edo = APC
Etsako East = APC
Etsako Central = PDP
Etsako West = APC
Owan West = APC
Owan East = PDP
(Edo Central)
Esan North-East = PDP
Esan Central = PDP
Esan South-East = APC
Esan West = PDP
Igueben = PDP
(Edo South)
Ovia South-West = APC
Ovia North-East = PDP
Egor = PDP
Uhunmwonde = PDP
Oredo = PDP
Ikpoba-Okha = APC
Orhionmwon = APC
But that the PDP from our survey could win more local government areas, does mean an automatic victory for the party and it’s candidate, Governor Obaseki, because the number of votes from the various 18 local government areas of state is yet to be ascertained.
