Don’t Be Influenced By APC – Imasogie Warns INEC

A frontline political leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, Owere
Dickson Imasogie, has again warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to succumb to the pressure allegedly being mounted on it by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to subvert the will of the people in the State Governorship election coming up on September 19.
Imasogie gave this warning in Benin City in
an interview with newsmen in Benin City, stated that any attempt by INEC officials to engage in electoral malpractices with the connivance of APC may result to political
crisis in the state.
“Now that everybody is calling for peace before, during and after the election, it is only proper that the INEC and the security agents do the right thing in order not to set the stage for crisis.
“I’m happy that the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu has told the world that they now have a system to capture both the collating and the final result in every unit which would be automatically transmitted to the INEC portal for everybody to view.
“That is a good development if they are able to
keep to that promise. This would also give the commission a good image before Nigerians and the International Community,” he said.
Owere Imasogie who is popularly refer to as the “leader of leaders”, further posited that with all the violence that have so far been
recorded and published by the media was enough to attract the attention of the International Community
He urged the electoral umpire to be circumspect by conducting the Edo gubernatorial election in the manner that
would provide for a free, fair and credible election that will be acceptable by all.
He advised INEC not to repeat what he called the ugly incidents that happened in Ekiti, Osun and Kogi states respectively, in Edo State, saying that what happened in those states, brought the commission’s image to disrepute before the whole world.
The PDP leader of leaders expressed hope that his party will win the state governorship election with wide margin.
