ERA/FoEN HOLDS YOUNG TALENT HUNT —Empowers over 5,000 Teens, Youths

The Environmental Rights Action/Friends of Earth Nigeria (ERA/FoEN), recently empowered no fewer than 5,000 youths and teenagers accross the country.

Speaking during the 2020 edition of the ‘YOUNG TALENT HUNT FESTIVAL’, in Benin City, a representative of the NAPTIP Abuja, Engr Abdullahi Aliyu encouraged the young ones to see the privilege as one that will lead to self dependency and national development.

A female engineer and who is also a crusader of renewable energy, Engr Damilola Asaleye said the young ones should look beyond the current failures of government.

Engr Damilola who is the Chief Operation Officer and Co-founder of Ashdam Solar Co Ltd, Ibadan said, “technology in renewable energy is the solution to the ongoing power issue in Nigeria. The young ones that are already embracing it are the Giants we see in future.

“Of course, renewable energy provides reliable power supply, allow fuel diversification, enhance energy security, lower the risk of fuel spillage, helps conserve the nation’s natural resources and also mitigates climate change.

The Executive Director of the ERA/FOEN, Dr Godwin Uyi Ojo, who was full of enthusiasm during the festival, said his goal is to see every young Nigerian becoming independent and creative.

He also advocates for reduction of electricity tarriff from 7.5% to 2% so as to encourage production and entrepreneurship.

During the festival, the young inventors showcased their inventions. The inventions ranges from Solar powered power tracker, renewable energy, cooking devices which can help prevent deforestations, solar power lightens, solar power inverters, power banks, among many others.

Fielding questions from journalists, the Young ones appreciate the opportunity provided them by ERA/FoEN and pledge to utilize the knowledge gathered.

Highlight of the festival was the presentation of certificates of incorporation from Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, to DanJap Technologies, which was enhanced by Dr Godwin Uyi-Ojo.
