Uwadia Cecilia is a 300level Economics student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN); she is currently on the run over her alleged involvement in illicit sex with another female lover, Ojo Miracle Odosa
Investigation revealed that Ojo Miracle Odosa was always in the habit of visiting Cecilia at her room inside Ekosodin, a near UNIBEN where she sometimes passed the night.
The love birds were said to be habitually very fond of themselves and often than not suspiciously lock themselves inside the one room apartment where neighbours said they occasionally hear “sensational screaming from them, indicating that they were engaging in sexual activities, even though they were both females”, a source claimed.
But on February 20, 2023, the bubble finally bursted when they were caught having sex together on that fateful evening. They gave themselves away when they forgot to lock the door and one of Cecilia’s neighbours went into the room without knocking.
“The lady was extremely shocked to see them making ‘hot’ love on the bed. Perhaps, out of confusion, she screamed with a loud voice, running out to inform others what was going on”, a lady who simply identified as Alice, said.
But fortunately for Odosa and her lover, they were able to flee the scene before the neighbours gathered to see things for themselves. However, the officials of the Nigeria police force, got a hint of the matter and decided to launch an investigation because it’s an offence for same sex individuals to be involved in amorous relationship.
Speaking in an interview with The RELIANCE, Alice said “we were very surprised the way those girls escaped arrest. We (neighbours) have been suspecting that they were engaged in lesbianism, until that day they were caught.
“Before we got to Cecilia’s room to shame and apprehend them, they escaped through the door and window. We gave them a hot chase but they managed to escape.”
On why the duo were chased, Alice claimed that “what the two girls did was a serious abomination in Benin land and the Nigerian law is against lesbianism, homosexualities and same sex marriage. They attract 14 years jail term on conviction.
“Since then, we have not seen or heard from them but the policemen have coming regularly in their attempts to apprehend them but the two have never showed up in the apartment”, Alice added.
The Edo State Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force, Mr. Chidi Nwanbuzor, couldn’t be reached for comment but a source close to his office, confided that lesbianism is an offence punishable by law in Nigeria.
