A leading governorship aspirant in the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State, Hon. John Yakubu, has reiterated his avowed commitment to all round development of the state, if elected governor in 2024.
Yakubu who spoke during a media parley at the Protea Hotel in Benin City, said he’s fully prepared and ready to bring laughter to the people and to make Edo great to extent of becoming the envy of other states in Nigeria.
The frontline governorship aspirant who was stoutly supported a broadcast ace, Mr. Charles Omonaide, highlighted a comprehensive security plan for the state, however emphasized collaboration between law enforcement agencies, community leaders, and technological innovations.
The aim, according to him is to ensure the safety of all citizens especially the farmers who are under serious threat, by addressing insecurity, improving intelligence gathering and sharing as well as implementing community policing initiatives.
On Power supply, Hon. Yakubu envisioned a robust energy sector through investments in renewable energy sources and modernizing existing infrastructure, so as to provide consistent and reliable power supply of between 18 to 20 hours daily to homes, businesses, and industries, thereby fostering economic growth and development.
On road construction, the former Esan North East Local Government Area chairman, said he will build bridges at strategic areas to link Benin City with Ikpoba-Okha in order to reduce traffic congestion in that axis of the state.
He is also a promised to upgrade road networks across Edo State to improve transportation, boost connectivity, and facilitate smoother movement of goods and people across the state.
Hon. Yakubu further recognized the importance of agriculture and vowed to support farmers through improved access to modern farming techniques, better irrigation systems, increased market access,
enhance food security, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth in rural areas.
Water supply was not left out, as he promised to provide access to clean and safe drinking water which shall be one of the priorities of his administration, saying that by investing in water infrastructure projects, such as boreholes, reservoirs, and purification systems and creating artificial rivers to provide adequate water supply to communities throughout the state.
On healthcare services, Hon. Yakubu, stated that when voted into office as the governor of the state, he would waste no time in upgrading and expanding the existing healthcare facilities in the state, increase medical personnel, and enhance healthcare service delivery.
Acording to him, access to quality healthcare services will be improved, thereby ensuring the well-being of all citizens of the state.
Recognizing the valuable contributions of the Diaspora communities, the campaign intends to establish channels for engagement, collaboration and fostering stronger ties with Diaspora Edo citizens.
