Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, has given automatic employment to 12 graduates of the Edo State University, Uzairue who bagged first class degrees.
Obaseki who disclosed this during the 5th convocation of the University, said the 12 graduating students include an Internally Displaced Person at the Edo IDP camp, Emos Ishaku.
“You have the story of automatic job of Ishaka Emos who have automatic job on Monday. He is not from Edo but because of what he has done. The spirit of hard work and resilient which he has demonstrates, he would be given the job in Edo state civil service.
“As you know those of you who graduate with first class degrees, you have automatic offer in the Edo state civil service job.
“I had a session with 40 of our graduate trainees and I am please to tell you that about three who graduated last year are part of it”
“The Institution is celebrating. We are also celebrating another mile stone as it is graduating nine Ph.D students from the University, and I’m committed to the development of the University.
“We will continue to endowed this university as we have dreamt of it from the beginning. In next year’s budget we are going to include the amount of money to make sure that we finish the infrastructure in medical science and the completion of the teaching hospital”.
“I have also instructed that our current deployment of high speed fibre optic be extended to this school in order to support the efforts the Institution has made to facilitate learning” he said
Also speaking, the Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Emmanuel, Aluyor, said within the university’s seven years of existence, it has set some records for the older universities to emulate.
“It is on record today that Edo State University Uzairue is the first in Africa to have acquired some of the hi-tech equipment for the training of her medical students. These include the Anatomage Table, a medical tool that allows for the real time display of human anatomy, and the SimMan 3G Mannequins in our Advanced Skills Laboratory.
“In addition to these equipment that allow our medical students to have hands-on medical experience in the course of their training, we also have Edo State University Teaching Hospital in Auchi.
“Today we are 356 graduates of Edo State University Uzairue out of which 12 are first class, 164 are Second Class Upper division, 234 are Second class lower division and 14 third class. We have 65 unclassified degrees. Nine candidates completed Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) programs while four successfully completed Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) programs, 48 are graduating with Master of Science (M.Sc.) and Master of Arts (M.A.) degrees, while 38 will receive Postgraduate Diplomas.”
