Gen. Charles Airhiavbere rtd, a prominent governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has promised Edo people of economic prosperity and infrastructural development, if elected as governor of the state.
The retired army general, stated this while meeting with the leadership of APC at the party Secretariat in Benin City, where he officially inform them of his aspiration to contest the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
He said Edo state being the heartbeat of the nation, APC should be the heartbeat of Edo State, urging all members of the party in the state to close ranks so as to win the election slated for next year
He said his commitment to peace is the cornerstone of the campaign, adding that a peaceful society is a prerequisites for progress and prosperity with aim to invest in diplomacy, conflict resolution and community engagement that will foster understanding and unity amongst diverse group.
Gen. Airhiavbere pledged to prioritize infrastructural development by investing in modern transportation systems, sustainable energy initiatives and upgraded technology networks, pointing out that by revitalization, jobs will be created and the foundation for long term economic growth will be laid.
He added that the annual Igue festival, Emoro festival and other festivals across the state will be prioritized and made good tourist attraction as Edo people do not need a government that will be interested in artifacts but rather join in the reparation of the artifacts to its original aboard.
He further said that his campaign also pledges a transformative approach to Education, Agriculture and health infrastructure, recognizing the pivotal roles in societal advancement
The APC gubernatorial hopeful, further stated that economic prosperity will be the ultimate goal of his administration as policies that stimulate job creation , encourage entrepreneurship and support small businesses will be implemented
Gen. Airhiavbere then used the occasion to call on the citizens to support and join in the journey towards a harmonious, prosperous and inclusive future for Edo state
Responding, state secretary of the party, Engr. Lawrence Okah who spoke on behalf of the executive members, disclosed that the party has not zoned the governorship ticket of the party to any senatorial district
He urged all the aspirants to go about their consultations with stakeholders of the party peacefully.
Airiavbere was accompanied on the visit to the party Secretariat by mammoth crowd, including associates, friends and Party leaders from the 18 local government areas of Edo State.
