Edo State Government, has lambasted the All Progressives Congress (APC), for deliberately and wickedly linking Governor Godwin Obaseki with the court case instituted against His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin and the Edo State Government by some Enigie in the Benin Kingdom.
The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Chris Nehikhare who stated this why addressing media men in Benin City,, warned the APC to desist from spreading false rumours and campaign of calumny against Governor Obaseki by trying to cause conflict between the Oba and the state governor.
Mr Nehikhare admonished the APC to stop being mischievous and disgruntled. “The APC leaders and their war mongers must desist from causing confusion and formenting troubles in our peaceful state.
Nehikhare declared that the good people of Edo state should disregard the already dead on arrival campaign strategies of APC which is relying on falsehood, blackmail and propaganda strategies to win elections in the state.
He expressed confidence that the sterling leadership and performances of Governor Obaseki who is persistently delivering good governance to Edo people as promised during his electioneering campaign promises, will always speak for him.
He asserted that up till now, Edo state remains the first state in the federation to implement the #40,000 minimum wage to her workers, noting that the state is also the first to increase the minimum wage to #70,000.
“With all these achievements by the government ,some disgruntled elements are still bent on discrediting and dragging the name of the governor and the Palace to the mud
“I urge them to instead of pursuing and lying against the governor, the APC people should engage themselves with good campaign promises to Edo people and tell them what they could do differently to bring good governance to the people like what the present government is doing.”
When asked about the defections by some political leaders, particularly Hon. Charles Idahosa, the commissioner responded by asking the said chieftain to retire from active politics as he has no more electoral value left in him.
Mr Chris Nehikhare reiterated that such Chieftains plays bread and butter politics, saying that the governor is not ready to share Edo state Government wealth with any so-called “ldle Political Leaders”.
