Concerned by what it called high level corruption in the Edo State government, the state branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), to quickly commence investigation into the financial transactions of the state.
Addressing a news conference in Benin City, the APC chairman in the state, Emperor Jarret Tenebe, accused the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, of large scale embezzlement of government money.
Tenebe further alleged that the government was being supported by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the September 21, 2024, governorship election in the state, Barr. Asue Ighodalo, hence the need for the anti-graft agency to bring them to justice.
The APC chairman urged the citizens of the state to request to know the ownership of Edo State Radisson Hotel, Idia Development Company Limited, Edo Modular Refinery, amongst others in which billions in contract fees have been paid for.
“It’s my duty to call on well meaning individuals, civil society groups to demand for accountability, transparency and good governance in Edo and Nigeria in general.
Tenebe, however called on Edo people to come out enmass on September 21, this year to vote for the APC candidates, Senator Monday Okpebholo and Hon. Dennis Idahosa, for them to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
