The candidate of Labour Party (LP), in the September 21, 2024, governorship election in Edo State, Barr. Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata and his running mate, Alhaji Kadiri Asamah (SAN), have visited the state secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to brainstorm about good governance in the state.
Barr. Akpata, used the visit to analyse some of his cardinal policies which he intends to embark upon if voted into office.
He also posited his resolve specifically to tackles unemployment, a problem he attributed to the ravaging nefarious activities like cultisms and other social vices in the state.
According to Barr. Akpata, Edo people deserves much more better governance than what the current administration is offering them, considering the huge amount of internally generated revenue and federation allocations.
He promised to declared state of emergency on road, other social infrastructural facilities and massive investment in agricultural sector to boost food production.
When some Journalists requested to know what he could do differently from this current and other previous governments as his party has neither been in power in the state, he responded by saying that he would run an all inclusive government devoid of religious, ethnic and creed.
According to the LP candidate, who criticized and commended some of the policies of the present administration, reiterated on improvement of some of the policies.
Barr. Akpata also urge the media, being the fourth estate of the realm to engage meaningfully in their reportage of people oriented policies and raise an awareness of issues that are anti-people.
