Raphael Okhiria

The Managing Director, Edo State Geographic Information Service (EdoGIS), Dr. Tony Ikpasaja, has strongly condemned the menace of land grabbing in Edo State, especially in Auchi, the administrative headquarter of Etsako West local government area of the state.

Speaking on behalf of Governor Monday Okpebholo during his maiden meeting with Staff of EdoGIS, Dr. Tony Ikpasaja said the Edo State Government was very determined to bring to end the menace of land grabbing in record time.

He, however solicited the support and cooperation of Edo State residents in assisting the state government to end the menace of land grabbing.

Dr. Ikpasaja particularly frowned at the menace of land racketeering on government lands at Auchi axis of the state.

Ikpasaja said he was already aware of reported incidents of land grabbing in parts of the state, the latest being at Auchi area of Edo North. He cautioned staff to desist from connivance or collaboration with unscrupulous elements to promote this unwholesome activity, warning that this act would be visited with serious sanctions if discovered.

The EdoGIS managing director, counseled staff of the agency on the need for early resumption to work and commitment to assigned tasks in order to meet the target of the Agency while promising to bring back necessary incentives to encourage them.

The interactive session afforded staff the opportunity to ask questions to which answers were provided. The MD promised to run an open door policy anchored on confidentiality.

It will be recalled that on resumption as the new Managing Director of EDOGIS on Monday, January 6, 2025, Dr. Tony Ikpasaja hit the ground running with a meeting with the Management Team who later led him on a guided tour through the Departments and Units of the Agency which afforded him the opportunity to interface with members of Staff at their duty posts.
