Edo By-election: APC Will Win Overwhelmingly – Onobun *Election Going On Smoothly – Omokhodion *Low Turnout Characterises Election

The ongoing senatorial by-election taking place in Edo Central Senatorial District has been characterised by low turnout of voters.

Most of the markets and business places in the local government areas that were monitored, opened for business activities while some youths were seen playing football and other games.

However, the Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun, the House of Representatives Member in charge of Esan West, Esan Central and Igueben, described the election as impressive.

He disclosed that based on the super performance of Governor Monday Okpebholo, the election will easily go the way of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Joseph Ikpea.

According to him, “the election is like a family affair and most possibly going to be one way in favour of the APC. The reason for this is because of the good performance of the governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

“You can see that the whole place is peaceful and the people are very happy voting for the APC because of the good works of the governor.

Rt. Hon. Marcus Onobun, who recently returned to the APC, further asserted that though voters were few at the voting centre, but that from the historical pattern of the voters, many more voters will undoubtedly vote before the expiration of the voting period.

Similarly, the former speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bright Ehi Omokhodion, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful way the election was being conducted.

The former speaker said it will be a thing of joy if future elections are conducted in a similar manner, saying that it is a healthy development for our electoral process.

As to who the likely winner could be, Rt. Hon. Omokhodion posited that the better prepared candidate and political party will be crowned winner.
