Crisis is brewing at Ikpako community in Ovia North Local Government Area of Edo state as Ijaws residing in the Bini-owned land recently hoisted a flag of white and black colour for the seeming annexation of the land.
Sources said the Ijaws who have allegedly hatched plans to over run the original occupants of the land, had to foist their flag on the Bini land to signify their intention.
The sources further explained that part of their plans was to first hoist their flag preparatory to annexing the Bini land by force.
When contacted for comment, the Odionwere of Ikpako community, Mr. James Ailegboze, who confirmed the act, said ” we uprooted the flag and are waiting for the next moves by the Ijaws.
“The elders of Ikpako have met and are in the process of communicating the incident to the Oba palace,” he added.
Efforts to obtain the reaction of the Ijaw leaders in the area proved abortive.
