Edo State Media Executives’ Forum, the umbrella body of Heads of Media Organisations in Edo State, has appealed to politicians and critical stakeholders not to overheat the polity ahead of the Sept.21 Governorship election in the state.
The forum made the appeal in a communique signed by its chairman Mr. Nosa Ogbeide and Secretary, Mr. Kevin Okunzuwa, after the group’s meeting in Benin City, Edo State .
While the media executives advised the 17 cleared candidates of the different political parties by INEC to ensure they made their campaigns issue based, they urged the leaderships of the parties and their followers to be tolerant of one another.
The media executives also advised other critical stakeholders like INEC, security agencies, Civil Society Organisations and Non-Governmental Organisations, to ensure they discharged their statutory mandates in compliance with the electoral Act.
According to the communique, the media executives, reiterated their resolve to avail all willing governorship candidates equal opportunity in their different platforms to reach out to the electorates.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has lifted the ban on political campaigns for the September 21, 2024, Governorship election in the state.
