By Raphael Okhiria

The Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Chairman, Dr. Eric Osayande, has commissioned a brand new industrial borehole, built by his administration in Owanoba community in Ward 9 of the locality.

The water borehole which is targeted at revolutionizing the water deficit in Owanoba, and it’s environs, has been welcomed largely by members of the community, who said during the commissioning that it was the first time they will be feeling government’s presence since the community’s inception.

They hailed the chairman of the local government area, Dr. Eric Osayande for keeping to the electioneering campaigns promise he made to them.

Dr. Osayande had promised Owanoba an industrial borehole, when he visited the community during the local government electioneering campaigns last year; which has been fulfilled to the joy and excitement of the Owanoba community people.

Representatives of the Chairman, which included the Vice Chairman, Hon. Osamuyi Idehen, Leader of the legislative arm, Hon. Kingsley Balogban, Director of administrative and general services, Comrade Blessing Uhunmwagho, and other officials of the Council were earlier received at the community’s town hall, where a letter of appreciation was read to the Chairman.

“It is with great joy and excitement that, we the people of Owanoba community are gathered here today to witness the official commissioning of the standard industrial borehole constructed by the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government under the chairmanship of Dr. Eric Osayande as a fulfilment of his campaign promise for the use of our people”.

Speaking further, “many regimes have come and gone, promised heaven and earth, but all to no avail; in addition, this your uncommon gesture in providing us this amenity is a total bailout from non-availability of water for both our people and livestocks.

“In all, Owanoba people both at home and in diaspora, sincerely appreciate you and your indefatigable team to have made this dream a reality”, the Owanoba community elders concluded.

Owanoba elders, women and youths were seen jubilating, as the Vice Chairman cut the tape, declaring the Owanoba water facility for their use.

He said , “I hereby dedicate this facility to the glory of the Almighty God, commissioning it for the full use and to the benefit of the Owanoba people; congratulations”.

Leader of the legislative arm, Hon. Kingsley Balogban, while addressing the community, urged them to continue to support the Osayande-led administration, noting that every single community in Ikpoba-Okha has felt the impact of the administration, nothing that the chairman is determined to do more for communities in the local government area.
