Private Investigation Regulation Bill (2024) Is Good For Nigeria – Senator Imasuen

The Distinguished Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District at the Upper Legislative Chamber of National Assembly, Senator Barr. Neda Imasuen, is in total support of the Private Investigation Regulation Bill (2024), pending before the national assembly.

Senator Imasuen, drawing from his experience as a practicing lawyer in the United States, where private investigators played a crucial role in his legal work, said that the proposed bill is the good interest in the nation and Nigerians who stands to benefit from it.

The bill’s key objectives include fraud prevention, detection, and resolution; corporate fraud and risk management; insurance fraud and claims investigation; aviation and marine loss investigation; occupational health and safety incident investigations; and tracking witnesses and bail bond defaulters.

It also seeks to clearly define the scope of the profession, establish standards, enforce penalties for professional negligence, criminalize unlicensed operation, and promote industry-specific training to ensure competence.

The Senate, has however, decided to step down the bill for further review and consultation.
