Politics Is The Most Expensive Venture In Life – Lawrence Okah

By Joseph Akhigbe
A top APC Chieftain in Edo South Senatorial District, Hon. Lawrence Okah has described politics as the most expensive venture in life. He made this assertion while responding to questions from The Reliance who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
Hon. Okah declared that APC is ready for a hitch-free nomination that will produce a credible flagbearer to run for the 2016 gubernatorial race. “All our congresses and nominations in the APC have always been very transparent and Edo 2016 will not be an exception”.
The APC chieftain also stated that the newscast of ITV/Radio on Wed, 1st of June about the fact that the Central Hospital Benin City has been disconnected by BEDC obviously for non-payment to us is quite unfortunate. He posited that the hospital is a place where everybody goes to when they fall sick. Anyone who falls sick will always be treated at the hospital.
Even the staff of BEDC or their families are being treated at the hospital when they fall sick, so it is quite appauling that BEDC could go ahead to disconnect such a humanitarian service delivery outfit. Or is it because it belongs to government or that it is an attempt to discredit the good work of the comrade governor in trying to upgrade the hospital. “I was surprised to watch on ITV recently that BEDC has disconnected light from the Central Hospital and that there was no water for the patients, why did ITV not show the 50 bedroom ultra modern hospital edifix constructed by this administration.
Hon. Okah did not hide his feeling on the insinuation that the governor will impose a candidate on the APC. He declared that the governor is the state leader of the party and that he is ready to abide by his decision on his successor plan. He assured Edo people that APC will provide a level playing field for candidates to test their popularity during the nomination exercise.
On the issue of frequent attack on oil installations in the Niger Delta, Hon Lawrence Osa Okah admonished the militants to stop the carnage on oil installations as destruction will even add to the problems of the country.
He added that President Muhammadu Buhari is the first president to flag off the cleaning of Ogoni Oil Spill environment. He has good plans for the people of Niger Delta but we need to give him some time to unfold them.
