The Nigeria security agencies have declared one Shola Victor Mayor wanted for indulging in homosexuality.
According to a press statement by the Force Police Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force, DCP Jimoh Moshood, Shola was last seen with his partner, Aigbedion Francis (male) in Benin City, the Edo State Capital on November 27, 2016.
The FPPRO stated that Mr. Shola Mayor and his partner were caught on November 27th, 2016, committing the criminal offence of homosexuality in a hotel room in Benin City, that led to the death of Mr. Francis Aigbedion.
“The suspect was caught making love to his male partner in a hotel (Good Time Hotel) located in the Evbuotubu axis of Benin City, that fateful morning.
“Desperate efforts to arrest him by the law enforcement agencies to face two offences of murder and the law prohibiting Gay in Nigeria has not been successful hence the need to declare him wanted.
” Gay or same sex is a serious ciminal offence in Nigeria because its against our traditions, customs and religious beliefs and murder carried capital punishment.
“The Nigerian government is doing everything possible to stamp out the practice of Gay which is spreading very fast among our Nigerian youths, especially in Benin City, Edo state capital.
” We have a presidential order to stamp out this illicit sexual act from our society and we are following that presidential directive religiously.
“We hereby call on anybody with useful information about the whereabouts of the runaway gay man, Shola Victor Mayor to report to the nearest police station or any federal agent”, the police statement added.
But investigation revealed that the police manhunt for Mr. Shola Victor Mayor may have forced him to escape to one of the European countries
Gay practice or homosexuality or same sex marriage is a criminal offence which attracts 14 years imprisonment on conviction.
