Gay Men Declared Wanted By The Police In Benin City

Edo State Police Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has declared some young men in Benin City, wanted over alleged practice of homosexuality.
The Police Commissioner in charge of Edo State Police Command, Mr. Johnson Babatunde Kokumon at a recent press conference in Benin City, Edo State Capital said the wanted gay men were on the run.
He disclosed that some arrested men together with others now at large had engaged in a group homosexuality in a location in Benin City.
According to him, “the police received credible information that some men were engaged in an orgy of same sex activities in a location in Benin City.
“Some policemen in the command were immediately mobilized and on getting to the scene, they caught three of them while some others managed to escape from the scene.
“Those earlier arrested included James Okodun, Ehis Ogunsuyi and Johnson Omono. But based on the confession and cooperation of the suspects arrested, the police was able to apprehend two others.
“But some of the suspects are still on the run and the police after long chase of the fleeing men have decided to declare them wanted.
“They include Victor Folorunsho, Iyamu Christopher, Osazuwure Osagie and Gabriel Idehen. These above-named suspects have been declared wanted by the state command of the Nigeria Police Force.
“Practice of gay or homosexuality or same-sex marriage is a criminal offence which attracts 14 years imprisonment on conviction.
“The police therefore call on members of the public to report all or any of the suspects declared wanted to the nearest police station, whenever an wherever they are seen,” the state police boss added.
