The governorship candidate in the 2016 Edo state governorship election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has said that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has failed Nigerians, accusing the administration of hypocrisy and deceit.
Pastor Ize-Iyamu, on Tuesday, said the APC has betrayed the trust of Nigerians who voted them into power by infesting them with hunger, killings and untold hardship.
Ize-Iyamu made the allegation at a rally to mark democracy day in Benin City, Edo state.
Ize-Iyamu said the APC led government is full of deceit and hypocrisy and has also promoted corruption across the length and breadth of the country, noting that the party failed to purge itself of its sinful act but has resulted to pointing accusing fingers at others.
“They said, we collected money for presidential election. Who does not spend money for election? So APC did not spend money for election. They said if you give anybody more than 5 million naira you are guilty of money laundering. I want APC to swear that they did not give their LGA chairmen or their ward chairmen money above 5 million naira.”
“The hypocrisy, lies, and the deceit is too much. I want to tell you that corruption is worse in Nigeria. The insecurity, Fulani herdsmen are killing people, you cannot even go to the farms again and they want us to still vote for that government.”
“Let me tell you, this government has failed. But you know, it was good that they came because if they had not come we will not know that they will fail so badly. And in federal, they have failed, in every state they have failed, and God is saying they must not return.”
“They must not return. I want all of you to get ready because this country belongs to us. All of us cannot leave this country for abroad and all of will not die today. By the grace of God, our enemies will die, and we will be here to bury them. We must rescue our people. We must rescue our country”, he pleaded.
Also speaking at the rally which was also attended by members of other political parties, state chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih, said their trial is aimed at the reintroduction of dictatorship in the country and challenged the people to stop it during the next general elections.
According to Orbih who was represented by the state publicity secretary, Chris Nehikhare, “Edo people should stand up to be counted that democracy is sustained here in Edo state because what they’re planning to do is not just to break us, but to reintroduce dictatorship back to the system and we must stop it.”
While pointing out that the next election is not just about voting PDP to power, but about rescuing democracy, Orbih carpeted those who charged them to court and maintained that the PDP leaders did not commit any offence affirming that, “what happened, money was sent to Edo state to run logistics for the last election in 2015 There was an account set up for that purpose.”
“For sixteen years, the PDP built democracy, unity and love for all Nigerians. But for the past three years, this government has brought disaster upon Nigerians, not just upon Nigerians, but even upon APC members. Am sure you know the APC is more divided today than any other party has been in Nigeria”.
On his part, the gubernatorial running mate to Pastor Ize-Iyamu in the Edo 2016 governorship election, Hon John Yakubu, urged PDP faithful to get ready with their PVCs to change the present government during the 2019 election, saying, “Nigerians are eagerly waiting for the PDP as the ruling party has failed all round to meet their desires and aspirations, we will give them bread and butter, and give them programmes that will deliver them from their present hardship.”
