Obaseki Has Failed Us – Says Aggrieved APC Youths Led By Tony Kabaka

Governor Godwin Obaseki

Aggrieved All Progressives Congress (APC) youths led by Comrade Tony Kabaka, on Monday, reacted angrily against some policies of the Edo state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, alleging failure on the part of the governor to fulfill his campaign promises.

The APC aggrieved youths at a press conference at the NUJ Press Centre, Benin City, also accused the governor of relegating most politicians who sacrificed their all which led to his victory in September 28, 2016 governorship election in the state, to mere spectators and political foes.

The Convener, Aggrieved APC Youths Forum, Comrade Tony Kabaka, therefore called on the national Chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to prevail on the Governor Obaseki not to further hurt the trust deficit of the APC state government.
They threatened to withdraw their support from the party if the governor fail to retrace his steps, urgently.

Kabaka, explaned that Governor Obaseki whose victory was intricately tied to Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, to learn from the humiliating defeat of Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose in Ekiti State who had relegated his party political leaders to the background.
He further said the provision of jobs earlier promise by Governor Obaseki has become a precious lie, considering growing of unemployed youths including the disengagement of over 4000 youths from collecting revenue for the government.

He also accaused Governor Obaseki of nepotism which he claimed has placed foreigners (non-indegnes) at vantage positions ahead of qualified indigenous contractors in the State.
According to him, “the first appointment we got from Governor Godwin Obaseki is to send us to jail for working for him.

“In a civilize country, before you can disloge youths of 2000 and above, you will first of all make preparation for them to take care of themselves.

“Oshiomhole did not spend a year before he hit the grond running. Governor Obaseki, you have paid us with evil and we are going to wait until the evil day come for you.

“They have retired a lot of young politicians in APC. If we had voted for Oshiomhole’s deputy, Mr Pius Odubu, I do not think we would have been treated this way”, he added.

Also speaking, a United States based Nigerian, Ms. Aiyowie Osagie Usoh, challenged the government of Governor Obaseki, to march words wit action in order to give meaning to her economic policies.
The Aggrieved APC Youths who were drawn from the 18 local government of the state, declared their regrets for supporting Mr. Obaseki to become the governor of Edo state.

But in a swift reaction, the APC youth leader in the state, Comrade Valentine Asuen debunked the allegations leveled against Governor Obaseki by the APC aggrieved youths.

He said at a crowded press conference at the NUJ Press Centre, Benin City that
“Since the inception of this government, Edo youth have been involved in virtually every policy initiative and programme in every sector of the state through the various organs of the leading APC.
“Few months into his administration, Governor Obaseki made it clear that one or his major goals is to create nothing less than 200,000 jobs for Edo people and residents, and from available records, Edo youths have been the major beneficiaries.

“The Governor established EdoJobs portal, through which thousands of Edo youths have been gainfully employed while others have been trained on several skills. The Edo APC Government ensured that all political appointees, namely; commissioners, special advisers, senior special assistants and special assistants, amongst others, were nominated by the party structures in the 192 wards in the state.

“So, I do not know where Tony Kabaka, perhaps after waking up on the wrong side of his bed, got the information that Edo youths are not “carried along” by the governor.

“Finally, if Tony Kabaka thinks that after his self-serving outcry, the government will and over the state government machinery to him to enrich himself: he needs a rethink, as that will not happen.
“The youth wing of the All Progressives Congress hereby dissociates itself from statements that were credited to Mr. Tony Adun. We also herewith, pass a vote of implicit confidence on his Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and his administration.

“No party leader has been retired. In fact people do not retire from party membership as claimed by Kabaka. Party membership is voluntary and all our leaders are all accorded the respect they deserve. This administration does not want to be associated with thugs and will not”, Comrade Asuen added.
