The various boards of agencies, parastatals and departments of Edo State government are to be reconstituted in September, this year.

Investigations by The Reliance revealed that the state executive governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has concluded plans to reconstitute the various boards which he had earlier dissolved shortly after his assumption of office.

According to a reliable source, Governor Obaseki who had been under intense pressure to appoint members into the vacant boards, recently hinted senior members of his cabinet about his willingness to reconstitute the dissolved boards.

“The governor has finally bowed to serious pressures from party leaders to reconstitute the boards so as to reinvigorate the state ministries, agencies and departments. “Besides, strengthening the MDAs, the board appointments will also be an avenue to empower the party members. Some of them have been complaining of neglect and abandonment by the Obaseki led-government.

“Furthermore, appointing party members into the boards will also reduce the current tension, friction and in-fighting among the rank and file of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Edo State Chapter.
“The appointment of board chairmen and members by Governor Obaseki is also to reward the APC members for standing firmly with his political god-father, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole during his struggle to become the APC National Chairman.

“So, the party leaders who are already in joyous mode will soon set machinery in motion to select qualified members for the vacant boards in the state in September.

“It is the expectation of the governor, that the appointments will bring enduring peace to the party and make it very formidable before the 2019 general elections”, the government source which preferred anonymity posited.
