A meeting of the Cultural Festival of the National Association of Owan Students, University of Benin Chapter, was held last weekend at the university campus climaxing with the unanimous endorsement of the House of Representatives aspiration of Professor Julius Ihonvbere, Chairman Edo State Economic and Strategic Planning Team.
Professor Ihonvbere is the front line aspirant of the All Progressives Congress(APC) for Owan Federal Constituency.
The epic event had featured several activities among which were; Masquerade Exhibition, Cultural dance, Quiz Competition and Almanac Launching.
Climax of the event was the unanimous endorsement of Prof Ihonvbere by the association as their sole candidate for the House of Representatives, Owan Federal Constituency ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Speaking on behalf of the association, Comrade Ohioma Osaweme, President of the National Association of Owan Students, UNIBEN Chapter, thanked the Iyase ( Prime Minister) of Iuleha, Professor Julius Ihonvbere, for honouring their invitation even at the short notice given.
He stated that the endorsement was borne out of the need for Owanite to have quality representation which in turn is geared towards the development of the entire Owan Communities.
Describing Professor Ihonvbere as an asset and a man who has greatly affected the lives of the people, especially the students positively through various scholarship programs he has offered them.
The president while enumerating the numerous laudable developmental projects so far executed and attracted to Owan by Profesdor Ihonvbere even as an appointee and through the Ihonvbere Foundation, stated in clear terms form part of the basis for his endorsement by the association.
While reiterating that Prof Ihonvbere stands tall among other aspirants, the association wholeheartedly trust and believe him to deliver good and equal democratic dividends, if elected as they all vow to vote him come 2019 general election.
But Prof. Ihonvbere in his response thanked the association executives and the entire Owan students for the trust and confidence reposed on him.
He assured the students of his continuous humanitarian support, promising to ensure better representation at the Green Chamber.
He urged the students to always shun violence and stay focus to the primary objective of them been in the university, even as he admonish them to be good Owan ambassadors.
