Edo NUJ Gets New Exco

 

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State council, has elected a new executive members to run the affairs of the union for the next three years.

NUJ members from the 12 affiliate chapels of the Union participated in the election with Sir Roland Osakue scoring a total votes of 115 to emerge the new chairman of the council for the second time.

Comrade Osakue beat other contestants including Festus Alenkhe (76 votes), Fedinard Osakue (64 votes), Rose Imonikhe (36 votes) and Friday Obanor (19 votes), to be re-elected for second term as the new state chairman of the NUJ, Edo State Council.

As a result of the victory, Comrade Roland Osakue has become the first ver chairman to win the coveated NUJ seat for the second time since the inception of the union in the state about 50 years ago.

Othr elected officers includes Imelda Osayande (Vice Chairman), Titus Akhigbe (Secretary), Kingsley Abavo (Assistant Secretary), Osaretin Emokpae (Treasurer), Lucky Isibor (Financial Secretary) and Jethro Ibileke (Auditor).

The election which was conducted by the Election Committee led by Comrade Kelvin Okunzuwa, was supervised by a team of NUJ national officers headed by Comrade Bamidele Gbenga, Senior National Assistant Secretary of the union.

A respected leader of the union, Comrade Dele Ailemen who congratulated the new leaders of the state council, commended Journalists in the state for conducting themselves in orderly manner before, during and after the election.
