Governor Godwin Obaseki

Controversy Trails Endorsement Of Obaseki’s 2nd Term

Controversy is trailing last week’s endorsement of the incumbent governor of Edo state, Mr. Godwin Obaseki for a second term by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Oredo local government area of the state.
Already, some members of the party have alleged that the said endorsement was not part of the agenda in the meeting they held on Sunday, March 31, by the members of Oredo Ward.
Governor Obaseki who is currently on his annual vacation abroad is from Oredo local government area of Edo state.
But leader of the party who was in the said meeting, names withheld for security concerns told newsmen in Benin City, that he was shocked to his bone marrows when he heard in the news that members of the APC at the Oredo meeting endorsed Governor Obaseki for a second term.
According to him, “It was an embarrassment to me when I saw my name as one of the leaders who signed the endorsement notice.
“Actually, the issue of endorsement for second term for Obaseki was not in the agenda and when it was even raised, nobody seconded the motion.
“I was very much surprised at what I saw in the news. The so called names they pasted was the list of attendants in the meeting and not those who purportedly endorsed the second term agenda”, the source added.
