The popular Third Junction by Sokponba Road was overtaken by gunshots recently, as persons suffering from the epileptic power supplied by Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), were chased away during a protest organised by the Upper Sokponba Road residents.
The protesters who trooped out in their number, were carrying placards, marching and chanting songs of protest, as they headed towards the city center to register their protest at the BEDC head office at Akpakpava Road.
On arrival at the Murtala Muhammed Way junction at Sokponba Road, a group of persons, all dressed in black, greeted the protesters with gunshots into the air which sent the protesters running for safety and protection.
Until press time, the attackers have not been identified while the Edo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Chidi Nwanbuzor said the state headquarters of the police was yet to be informed of the incident.
