Barrister Kenneth Imansuangbon, alias the “Rice Man”, has called on Edo state people to ask Governor Godwin Obaseki, where are the 200,000 jobs he promised them during his election campaigns in 2016.
“Our people have continued to work hard despite being faced by government that make promises and dont fulfill them. “During the campaigns for 2016 election, the incumbent governor made so much promises to deceive the electorates, he promised to create 200,000 jobs, but as we speak, he cannot boast about creating 2,000 jobs, our youths are dying daily on their way to Europe through the Mediterranean sea, hunger is ravaging the state and insecurity has become a norm in the state, we cannot continue like this”, Barr. Imansuangbon stated. Imansuangbon who is one of the 2020 gubernatorial aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stated this in a press statement and made available to newsmen in Benin City, on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the creation of Edo state from the defunct Bendel state. Mr. Rice Man who will be running for the governorship seat of the state for the 4th time by 2020, however admonished the governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki to embark on projects he is sure he could handle instead of telling the people what they want to hear and doing nothing. While congratulating the Edo people for their resilience and resourcefulness over the years, the educationist, however decried the avalanche of failed promises the people have had to live with over the years, particularly with the He congratulated the good people of the state on the occasion of the states 28th anniversary and urged them to remain focused and resolute in the face of government’s failed promises.
“Edo people are the most understanding set of people I have come across in this country, when you work within your capacity and knowledge, they would understand and appreciate you, but do not lie to them, do not take them for a ride.
“Why promising what you cannot do in these times and age when everyone can easily assess your performance from anywhere? Why promising to give 200,000 jobs in 4 years when you cannot fulfil it? You knew very much that you do not even have the capacity to create 2,000 jobs in four years let alone 200, 000, yet you deceive the people.
“Now, where are the jobs?” Imansuangbon asked.
‘Rice Man’, as he is popularly called, however promised Edo people better days ahead as he said; “I am ready to take over from next year and govern our people with the sincerity and respect they deserve.
“The state deserves better”, Imansuangbon concluded.
