Benin Storm Water Project: Oshiomhiole, Agba Have Case To Answer – EDSG

There are strong indications that the Edo state government may have concluded plans to investigate the roles played by the immediate past governor of the state, Comrade Adams Oshiomhiole and the then Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Clem Agba, over the multi-billion naira Benin Water Storm Project.
Investigation revealed that the Obaseki-led government has been unhappy with the manner the over 30 billion naira which was sourced from the capital markets, was spent on the project.
“There is no visible signs to indicate that billions of naira was spent to control ravaging flood in the Benin metropolis, thus bringing to questioning what happened to the money.
“Based on this, the Edo state government is highly interested in looking into the books regarding the contract for the award to remove flood from Benin City and it’s neighborhood.
“So, for a thorough investigation to be carried out, those that played active roles in the award of the project will have cases to answer.
“Former governor of the state, Comrade Adams Oshiomhiole who is now the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress and the Minister of State for Budget, Mr. Clem Agba who was Oshiomhiole’s commissioner for Environment.
“The duo of Oshiomhiole and Agba and few others who have one thing or the other do with the multi-billion naira water project, will also made to explain their roles in the ill-fated project”, a source close to the seat of government hinted.
Meanwhile, Edo State Government has warned the Minister of State for Budget, Mr. Clem Agba, to leave the revered Royal Majesty, Omo ‘n Oba Ne Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin, out of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s misguided political battles against Governor Godwin Obaseki and others across the nation.
The Special Adviser to Governor Obaseki on Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, in a statement, said Agba, being a major beneficiary of the unnecessary battles being fought by Oshiomhole across the country which made the All Progressives Congress (APC) lose about six states to the main opposition party the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), should kindly not drag the Oba of Benin into the embarrassment that is soon to befall both himself and Oshiomhole.
He said Agba, who was Commissioner of Environment when the Edo Water Storm master plan was conceived, is fully aware that there are many questions yet to be answered over the project hence his jittery effort to seek royal cover from the great king.
“For the records, the Benin Water Storm masterplan is not abandoned but Agba and Oshiomhole certainly have questions to answer over the project and at the right time they shall be invited.
“Good enough, Ministers and National Chairmen of political parties do not enjoy any immunity from investigation and litigation so they should get ready to face the people and the authorities.
“In case Agba has stayed away from home for too long and has forgotten how highly we revere our great king and custodian of our culture and tradition, he is hereby reminded and warned to keep the political rascality currently being choreographed by the suspended national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole far away from our great king,” he said.
congratulate Ofure Mary Ebhomielen, who has just been announced the best graduating student of the prestigious University of Ibadan (UI) with a CGPA of 7.0 out of a maximum of 7.0. The feat is applaudable being the first female and fourth person to attain the height in 71 years of the institution.
“Unarguably, there is no substitute for hard work because hard work if channeled in the right direction delivers enduring fruits. It yields results that history acknowledges ultimately and Mary OfureEbhomielen has joined many other intelligent Nigerians to prove this to be true. We are proud of you for relentlessly burning the midnight oil while others slept.
“This is a feat worth emulating and we urge other students across the country not to relent in improving and developing themselves through constant learning and studying.”
The governor however assured that his administration will continue with reforms and policies in Edo state to ensure that students at all levels achieve their academic aspirations.
“Ebhomielen’s feat comes at a time that we are reshaping the image of the Edo nation, and I am proud that she comes across as a shinning light to the millions of Edo youths who are looking for inspiration to toe the path of honour and hard work,” he added.
