Stop Using Security Personnel To Harass Us – Uselu Psychiatric Workers Tell Olotu

Piqued by the incessant harassment by security personnel, particularly officials of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) of the staff of the Federal Neuro-Psychaiatric Hospital, Uselu, Benin City, have called on their Medical Director, Dr. S. O. Olotu to immediately stop the alleged militarization of the health facility.
The aggrieved staff alleged that their boss (Dr. Olotu) whose tenure expires in March 2020, was in the habit of inviting security agents to arrest and detains mostly senior staff who dared to disagree with him over official matters.
The staff who pleaded anonymous for fear of victimization alleged that “our boss has militarized the headquarter complex of the hospital with thugs and security personnel.
“If you disagree with him, security officials including the ICPC will be unleashed on you on trump up charges.
“We are now living in fear because thugs are everywhere and ready to attack staff who are regularly labeled disloyal workers. They even go as far as monitoring staff movement within and outside the hospital premises.
“The staff have now resorted to prayer and fasting for Dr. Olotu to leave them in peace because he came as MD during crisis and since then, the staff have not known peace.
“His major problem now is that the out-going MD wants to place his supposedly loyalists in all strategic positions, before leaving in March next year.
“Therefore, any staff he thinks is an obstacle in achieving his selfish interest is labeled enemy that must be dealt with.
“Many junior staff loyal to him have been promoted above their seniors and in some cases some junior workers are superimposed on their departmental heads and if you dare complain, you become his targets.
“He was supposed to have gone on his terminal leave but he refused to go ostensibly because he is yet to fully achieve what he has started or that he is afraid of his shadows.
