Ologbo Crisis: Itsekiris Fighting A Lost Battle – BSM

The Benin Solidarity Movement (BSM) is concerned about the recent crisis in Ologbo, a community situated in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.

We, the Benins, are not known to be incapable of defending our territories from external aggressors.

Thus the recent situation in Ologbo whereby an Itsekiri man goes about maltreating his Benin landlords should be seen from the angle of the good neighbourliness attitude of the Benins.

This accommodating nature of the Benins should never be misconstrued or seen as cowardly.

The Benin Solidarity Movement is making this statement to correct the impression created by a faceless charlatan (of Itsekiri extraction) who in his writeup called on his kinsmen to go for the jugular of the Benins as it relates to the Ologbo case.

His threat is similar to the case of a man jumping into the Lagos Lagoon which everyone knows is suicidal.

In Delta State where the Itsekiris are carved into by the act of state creation they are known to have engaged their neighbours (Ijaws, Urhobos, Isokos etc) in one fight or the other over land matters.

They should be told in clear terms that in the Ologbo case they have met their superiors in the Benins.

The infantile Itsekiri war cry against the Benins in Ologbo is a doomsday message they can ill afford.

The Itsekiris should be told that it is not all leaves that are food for the goat. Some leaves are poisonous to the goat, infact leading to its death.

Almighty God and the gods of the land never made a mistake in situating Ologbo in Benin land. The Itsekiris should know that they are fighting a lost battle.

Elder Comrade Curtis Eghosa Ugbo.
