It was a joyous occasion recently at the Palace of the Benin Monarch, HRM Oba Ewuare II, as the Benin Traditional Council (BTC), announced the birth of a new Prince to the Benin Kingdom.
Recall that the arrival of the new Prince is the first birth of a male child after the coronation ceremony of Oba Ewuare over three years ago.
Addressing Journalists on behalf of the Benin Monarch, the Iyase of Benin, Chief Sam Igbe flanked by some Dukes and chiefs disclosed that Her Royal Highness, Queen Iyayota of Benin Kingdom has put to bed a healthy baby boy.
“The Benin Traditional Council on behalf of His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, joyfully wish to announce that Her Royal Highness, Queen Iyayota of Benin Kingdom has been delivered of a healthy baby boy.
“It is our prayers that the Prince will grow in good health, excellence, grace and that he shall be blessed I’m measurably by the Almighty God and, the great Royal Ancestors with wisdom, kindness, generosity Knowledge and Courage of his illustrious father, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II.
“We congratulate our amiable Queen, Her Royal Highness, Queen Iyayota for a safe delivery and pray that this happy occasion shall birth more blessings for her, for the Palace and for the entire Benin Kingdom”, he said.
In their separate reactions, HRH, Gregory Akenzua, HRH Iduriase Aweroghene Osazuwa, HRH Edomwonyi Ogiegbaen, Chief Eduwu Ekhator Obasogie, Chief Nonse Ozigbo-Esere, amongst others, congratulated Oba Ewuare II for the birth of the new Prince.
Chief Obasogie said that “the birth of the Benin prince was attestation that the Almighty God and the ancestors are blessing the Benin Palace.
