AA Party Harvest Members From Accord Party

Scores of members of the Accord Party (AP) led by the chairman of the party in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State, Mr. Oviasu Ehigiator, have declared for Action Alliance party.

Mr. Ehigiator, had led other executive members and several members of the AP to join the AA during an enlarged Stakeholders meeting of the party in Benin City, recently.

The former Oredo Local Government chairman of AP, accused the leadership of his former party of ostensibly floating a non-existent Bank loan for its members, which turned out to be a scam before the last Governorship election.

“As I speak with you, I have the Chairmen of 11 of AP and over a thousand supporters on my side.

“After some turbulent moments, we took a resolution to leave AP in droves to realise our potentials and not to ruin our political career.

“I took time to investigate the allegation and discovered that it was a sham when I got to Ekpoma. Thereafter, informed the leadership of AP about my plans to leave the party”, he said.

Addressing journalists, Mr. Johnson Obasogie, Vice Chairman of AP, Ward 3, and Mrs. Josephine Momodu, Women Leader, Oredo Ward 2, vowed to work for the unity and progress of Action Alliance tovictory in future elections..

According to Momodu, “We have come to join AA and I am coming with my women. I am capable. We are coming with full force to join hands with the party. And I assure you, there is no going back and we will get there”.

Welcoming the defectors into its fold, Edo State Chairman of Action Alliance, Engr. Israel Guobadia, urged Governor Godwin Obaseki to provide a level playing field for a free and fair Local Government election in the state.

“We welcome the defectors with open hands. Before today, we have known one another on the field. We know their pedigrees, their strength, doggedness and their political diversity.

“Haven come to join us, we are very happy. Their defection to AA will double the strength with robust ideas. The defectors have come to a party where their voices would be heard and political aspirations would be met in the party that is transparent and operate as a family. They did not make any mistake.

“We are going to field Candidates in the forthcoming local government election. And like I have said, if the election is free and fair, AA is poised to winning elections in the Local Government Area and Councillors seats, provided the election is free and fair. Not as usual where the political party of the day takes all either by hook or crook.

“With the double strength in numbers and strength, we are sure of victory in this forthcoming Local Government election in Edo State”, he assured.

Other defectors across the three Senatorial districts of the State, subscribed via Zoom and joined the event which was held in strict compliance with Covid-19 protocol.
