3 Students Die In Auto Crash In Delta

Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku community was at the weekend thrown into mourning as three students institution reportedly died in a motor accident.

It was gathered that the accident involved a 350-Lexus jeep and a truck (tipper) killing three students on the spot.

According to an eye witness who would not want his name in print, told newsmen that, the victims were suspected internet fraudsters popularly called Yahoo Boys who were celebrating the arrival of their car.

“The students were celebrating the arrival of their car and unfortunately crashed into a tipper in the community.

“When we got to the scene of the accident, it was fatal indeed. They were students of the polytechnic and they died instantly”

The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Delta State, Mr. Udeme Esiet could not be reach for comments as he didn’t pick calls put across to him.

But the Police Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the accident but claimed that only two persons died.

Edafe said, “Yes, there was an accident in Ogwashi-Uku community, two occupants of the vehicle one Sarah Opia and the name of the man yet to be known died instantly, while the driver was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre Asaba and I think he is still alive”.
