UNIBEN Ranked One of the Best Universities in Nigeria

The Times Higher Education (THE), has ranked the University of Benin (UNIBEN) as the best six in the country.

This information which is contained in the group’s latest World Universities rankings, rated UNIBEN as the sixth best in Nigeria and 1201-1500 in global ranking.

A statement by the university’s Public Relations Unit, said the performance indicators were centred on the four areas of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

The unit added that the rankings were also based on the analyses of over 15 million research publications and survey responses from approximately 40,000 scholars worldwide.

But reacting to the development, Dr Benedicta Ehanire, who’s the institution’s Public Relations Officer (P.R.O), said the information has been well received by the University of Benin Community as it serves as confidence booster.

She further disclosed that, the University was presently at the conclusion stage of securing international accreditation by the Quality Assurance Agency, United Kingdom.

“It is expected that the University of Benin will be the first to be so recognised among Nigerian Universities.

“With these developments, the Institution is now positioned to significantly improve in its ranking in the next exercise”, Dr. Ehanire added.
