Ahead of the 2023 general elections, members
and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have been charged to go all out and campaign vigorously for all the party candidates by applying the Jehovah Witnesses’ tactics of souls winning.
Former deputy governor of Edo State, RT. Hon. Pius Odubu, gave the charge at the inauguration of the Campaign Council and formal flag-off of the
party’s standard bearer the for House of Representatives, Oredo Federal Constituency, Hon. Osaro Obazee, in Benin City.
He urged the APC members in the state not to be complacent because of the crisis in the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but to rather go all out, moving from house to house and ensuring victory for the party in the 2023 general elections.
According to him, “The biggest mistake is to take the crisis in the PDP for granted, no matter the crisis in the PDP, no matter the disobedience in the Labour Party, we must work hard to win the election.
“We have to work extremely hard to win this election. We must become what I call political Jehovah Witnesses, we must move around the nooks and crannies of Oredo Federal Constituency and preach the gospel of APC.
“As we campaign, we campaign for our presidential candidate, senatorial candidate, all the House of Representatives candidates and all the state house of assembly candidates because together victory is assured.”
But inaugurating his Campaign Council, Hon.Osaro Obazee, the standard bearer of the APC for House of Representatives, Oredo Federal Constituency,
charged the members to engage in an door-to-door and issue based campaign.
He advised the members to subject themselves to the leadership of the state campaign council which according to him, would coordinate all campaign activities of the party in the state.
He thanked the party for giving him the opportunity to contest on its platform and to represent the people of Oredo at the House of Representatives in Abuja.
He said: “I want to assure you of my dedication and commitment to the party and I will not disappoint the party if given the mandate to serve.
“Today we gathered to formally inaugurate the Campaign Council of my campaign organization and to equally flag off. I will call it a Christmas flag off and inauguration”.
Obazee who thanked all the ethnic groups present and party members that attended the occasion, appealed to them to continue their support for the party.
But the Director General of the Osaro Campaign Organization, Mr. Moses Idahosa,
responding on behalf of the members, noted that members of the council are result -driven, even as he assured that the members would engage on issued based campaign.
He disclosed that members of the campaign organization were carefully selected as they are party members with serious commitment to the task at hand.
“We have the capability to deliver our candidate. Our candidate has a good track record. He will be very easy for us to market. We will do our best to ensure victory for him”, Moses Idahosa, added.
Among the array of dignitaries at the event were the former governorship candidate of the party in the 2020 governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Razaq Belo-Osagie, former Speaker of the state house of assembly, Hon Uyi Igbe, amongst others.
