Edo 2024: LP Won’t Zone Guber Position, Says Sen. Imasuen

As the 2024 governorship election in Edo State approaches, the senator representing Edo South Senatorial District, Barr. Neda Imasuen, has revealed that the Labour Party (LP) in the state would not be zoning the governorship ticket to any particular district.

Imasuen, a member of the Labour Party, however insisted that the LP will do everything in its powers to put forward a credible and sellable candidate that is capable of winning the guber election.

Speaking to newsmen in Benin City, Senator Imasuen, disclosed that LP has fully endeared and entrenched itself in the hearts of the people in the state which has made it a party to beat in the forthcoming governorship election.

“We are putting plans in place to ensure a very transparent primary to produce the best and marketable candidate for the governorship election coming up next year in the state” he said

He also spoke on the rumour making the rounds in the state that he was planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying that the rumour was from the pit of hell and being peddled by his political detractors.

According to him “I have no plan to defect; as I speak to you, nobody has approached me to discuss defection plan and I have not held any meeting with any other political party other than my party. So, I don’t know where the story is coming from”, Senator Imasuen, stated.

Speaking on the recent validation of his election by the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos, the elated Edo amiable Senator, extended the olive branch to his political opponents whom he asked to join hands with him in the task of building Edo South Senatorial District.

He noted that as true democrats, what they have done in challenging his victory at the courts have helped to depen and strengthen the democratic processes in the country.

“All of us are up for the development of our state, but using different approaches and different platforms. So, I invite them to join hands with me to move our district to the next level.This victory which I dedicates to my teeming supporters and to God almighty is what I termed ‘no victor, no vanquished’,” Senator Neda Imasuen, posited.
