Edo Guber: ‘I Have The Capacity To Move Edo Forward’ – Ighodalo—Says ‘I’m nobody’s candidate’

One of the frontline governorship aspirants of the 2024 gubernatorial election in Edo state, Barrister Asue Ighodalo, has said that he is fully prepared to make a positive difference in the governance of the state, if voted the governor of the state.

Ighodalo who stated this during interactive chat with newsmen in Benin City, said he has a lot of good things to offer the people of the state and make their lives more meaningful.

The governorship aspirant who last week signed as chairman of the Nigeria Breweries PLC, to enable him fully concentrate on election, disclosed that he is the best man for the job.

He stated that he had worked with the immediate past governor of the state, Comrade Adam Oshiomhole from 2008 to 2016 and that he is also doing the same for Governor Obaseki, as the chairman of Alaghodaro Summit.

Ighodalo who hails from Ewohimi in Esan South-East Local Government Area of the state, described himself as a bonafide ‘home boy’, fully prepared for the great tasks ahead.

He stated that it was out of his own volition that he ventured into the governorship race, saying that he was nobody’s candidate but one who is ready to bring his experience of serving as chairman of various companies to bear when he gets the party nomination and being voted as the governor of the state.

“I’m offering myself for service because of my desire to make Edo strong economically, because there are several parts of the economy that can be used to provide for the people and take them out of poverty.

“Edo State as the heart beat of the nation should have good infrastructures like good roads, pipe borne water, good hospitals, good schools and many others.

“I am here to serve the state and I can say I am the best man for the job. I hear people saying I am Someone’s candidate but I can tell you that I am nobody’s candidate. All I will do is to bring my experience to bear having been chairman of several top companies.

“It was tough decision resigning from those position. I’m coming from a comfort zone and you put all of that down to say you want to do things for your people. I have the ability to do things for many more people having done for fewer people in the corporate world.

“I have to leave my comfort zone to serve my people. I decided to allow my the peoples interest to supercede my personal interest because if you don’t love the people, you cannot lead the people well. I’m ready to make a difference in the lives of the people of Edo state.

“All of the experience and connection I have had allover the years would be brought to bear. I am committed and convinced that I can do it. It looks uncertain but even it will be certain in God’s name.

“I pledge to give youths the opportunity to serve in my government because the youths have talents to build the state. Be assured that I am fully committed to the upliftment of our staie andI will give my life to ensure that.”

He promised to give priority attention to education, civil service reforms, agriculture, portable drinking water, roads construction, amongst others.
