Barrister Neda Imasuen is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly. He’s the Distinguished Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District of Edo State.
Senator Neda, recently demonstrated his unwavering commitment to fostering positive engagement and camaraderie among students of the University of Benin, when he instituted the “Senator Neda Imasuen Annual Soccer Tournament” for the Law Students Association, Faculty of Law.
The event, a testament to the senator’s dedication to promoting healthy sporting interactions within educational institutions, unfolded recently with the first edition of the tournament taking place at the faculty of law of the institution from 1st to 5th December, 2023.
Senator Neda Imasuen’s generous financial contributions towards the successful hosting of the tournament was highly inspirational. The tournament, pulsating with energy and enthusiasm, brought together students and lecturers in the spirit of friendly and healthy competitions.
Winners at the tournament went home richer with cash prizes of Two Hundred Thousand naira (#200,000.00) naira – first position, while the second and third placed teams proudly received the cash prize awards of One Hundred and Fifty thousand naira (#150,000.00) naira and One Hundred Thousand naira (#100,000.00) naira, respectively.
The impact of Senator Neda Imasuen’s involvement extended beyond the financial assistance. His presence through a representative, added prestige to the occasion, underscoring the significance of collaboration and unity within the academic community.
The football matches were more than a just sporting event as was indeed a celebration of the shared passion for learning and the strength derived from mutual respect.
As the staff and students of the UNIBEN students reflect on the successes and gains of the tournament, there is a palpable sense of gratitude for the Distinguished Senator (Barrister Neda Imasuen’s) unwavering support.
His commitment to creating a vibrant and supportive atmosphere within the Faculty of Law has left an indelible mark, not just in the hearts of students and staff of the faculty but the institution’s management alike.
